Today, the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence showed the number of victims is increasing, but government budgets aren't.

They discussed the urgency for the state of Kansas not to cut funds for these organizations.

The economy doesn't cause abuse, but many times, money stress can lead to more abuse.

"It's our responsibility as victim advocates to make sure we can continue to provide the same level of service that they are entitled to and should have. In the Department of Corrections, our office of victim services provided services to close to 8,500 last year across the state of Kansas," Director of DOC Victim Services Jennie Marsh said.
